Overview

Farm Veterinary Surgeon — West Sussex — Permanent | Full-Time (Part-Time Considered)

Are you a passionate and proactive farm vet looking for a new opportunity in a supportive, forward-thinking team? This team based in Sussex enjoy a varied caseload, collaborative environment, and the chance to make a real impact in the farming community.

Responsibilities
  • Dairy, beef, sheep, and smallholder work (including camelids)
  • Fertility, medicine, surgery, obstetrics, and emergency care
  • Herd/flock health planning and proactive consultancy
  • A mix of individual case workups and commercial advisory work

This is an ambulatory role, with shared out-of-hours duties (1:4 rota, time off in lieu for weekends worked). Flexibility is important, so part-time or alternative working patterns are open for discussion.

Qualifications
  • Confident handling a range of farm species and emergency situations
  • Comfortable with sole-charge responsibilities out of hours
  • Great team player with excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiastic about ongoing development and client engagement
The Team

Close-knit, inclusive team, which includes:

  • 4 dedicated farm vets (including one currently studying for a master’s in nutrition)
  • 2 ATT/Techs and experienced administrative support
  • A strong culture of mentorship, collaboration, and career development

They actively support all CPD—from hands-on skills courses to academic qualifications and conferences.

Working Hours
  • Full-time: 4.5 days per week, 8am–5pm
  • Part-time and flexible working options available
  • OOH rota: 1 night per week and 1 weekend in 4 (with time off in lieu)
