Job summary

A community service organization in Welwyn Garden City is seeking an Estate Technician to undertake repairs, grounds maintenance, and general cleaning. This role requires basic repair knowledge, health and safety compliance, and a valid UK driving licence. Qualifications

Skills

British institute certificate in cleaning services (BICS)

Working knowledge of grounds maintenance
Experience with hand tools and light machinery
Full valid UK manual driving licence

Education

NVQ 2 in Horticulture or similar
Job description
The role of Estate Technician will include :
  • Undertaking basic repairs, grounds maintenance, caretaking and general cleaning
  • Providing accurate and timely information on progress and advice and ensuring accurate daily work records are completed
  • Responding positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations and escalating complaints as appropriate
  • Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks and ensuring stock levels are maintained
  • Using equipment and materials in a safe manner as instructed and in accordance with risk assessment and method statements and the manufacturer’s guidance
  • Carrying out all hazardous tasks, such as spraying in accordance with supplier guidelines and in a safe manner, ensuring relevant records are maintained to comply with health and safety and legal requirements
Skills and experiences :
  • British institute certificate in cleaning services (BICS), NVQ 2 in Horticulture or similar or willing to work towards
  • Pesticide Application Certificate PA1 – PA6 or willing to work towards
  • Literacy and numeracy equivalent to grade C GCSE English and Maths
  • Working knowledge and experience of undertaking grounds maintenance, caretaking, general cleaning and basic repairs duties
  • Some experience of working in a domestic / cleaning environment and practical experience in operating hand tools and light machinery
  • This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK manual driving licence
