About us and the role

Warwickshire County Council’s Adult and Community Learning Service is a dynamic, forward-looking adult education service, judged ‘Good’ by Ofsted. We provide a wide range of adult learning courses across the county. Our county-wide programme for people who need support to learn and improve their English skills is expanding and we are looking for a part time (0.8) English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Adult Education Tutor to join our experienced and friendly team. This is a permanent post for 29.60 hours per week over an agreed number of days. Your base office will be at Adult and Community Service Camp Hill Children and Family Centre in Nuneaton, but the role will involve travel around the county.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

To plan, deliver, and assess high-quality ESOL learning for adult learners, supporting their language development, confidence, and progression into further learning, employment, or community engagement.

Working under the direction of the Programme Lead for ESOL, you will need excellent communication skills, patience and a flexible approach to your work.

You will be required to plan and deliver engaging ESOL lessons for adult learners at various levels (Pre Entry to Level 2); conduct initial assessments and develop Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). You should be able to differentiate teaching to meet diverse learner needs, including those with low literacy or additional support requirements. A use of a range of teaching methods and digital tools to support blended learning will be required. As well as monitoring learner progress you will need to maintain accurate records in line with funding and quality requirements. Within your teaching you will be promoting safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion in all activities.

Successful candidates will be contributing to curriculum development and continuous improvement of provision to support the rights and aspirations of under-represented groups.
