Job summary

GM Performance Power Units, Concord, NC, seeks an ESME Application Engineer to lead the design and optimization of the ES/ESME manufacturing processes for high‑performance battery systems. You will ensure safe production, develop robust procedures with Quality, and drive Built-In Quality across assemblies.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering, 2+ years in battery pack assembly, and proficiency in CAD and robotics. Strong communication and independent leadership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of battery pack assembly engineering experience.
• Experience programming industrial robots.
• Proficient in 3D CAD software (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks).
• Excellent communication in multidisciplinary teams and ability to lead projects independently.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and optimization of the manufacturing process for the Energy Store (ES) and Energy Store Main Enclosure (ESME).
• Design and analyze production processes to ensure personnel safety.
• Work with Quality to develop in-process and end-of-line quality procedures.
• Contribute to the design process of ES and ESME to achieve Built-In Quality.
• Conduct root cause analyses and document learnings.
• Create and maintain manufacturing operation work instructions.
• Document and communicate assembly process developments and innovations.
• Coordinate with ERS Assembly Manager and High Voltage Safety Supervisor to meet safety and quality standards.
