Job summary

GM Performance Power Units, based in Concord, NC, is seeking an ESME Application Engineer to join our advanced engineering team. You will help safely build high-performance battery systems and optimize manufacturing processes for ES and ESME components.

The role requires hands-on design, root-cause analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure Built-In Quality and safety across all stages of assembly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or closely related field.
• 2+ years' battery pack assembly engineering experience.
• Experience programming industrial robots.
• Proficient in CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar 3D CAD tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication for cross-functional teams.
• Self-driven with ability to lead projects.
• Experience in automotive, aerospace, motorsport, or related high-performance industries is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and optimization of the manufacturing process of the Energy Store (ES) and Energy Store Main Enclosure (ESME).
• Design and analyze production processes to ensure personnel safety at all times.
• Work with QA to develop in-process and end-of-line quality procedures for various assembly processes.
• Contribute to the design process of ES and ESME to achieve Built-In Quality.
• Conduct root cause analysis and document learnings for the team.
• Create and maintain manufacturing operation work instructions.
• Communicate assembly process developments and innovations clearly.
