Job summary

GM Performance Power Units (GM PPU) seeks an ESME Application Engineer to join the Concord, NC team. The role centers on safely building high‑performance battery systems with rigorous quality standards, leading design and optimization of ES/ESME manufacturing processes, and collaborating across functions to ensure Built-In Quality.

The ideal candidate has a engineering degree and 2+ years in battery pack assembly engineering, plus robotics programming and CAD proficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
2+ years of battery pack assembly engineering experience.
Experience programming industrial robots.
Proficient in 3D CAD software (CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, or similar).
Excellent verbal and written communication; able to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Lead design and optimization of the manufacturing process for the Energy Store (ES) and Energy Store Main Enclosure (ESME).
Design and analyze production processes to ensure personnel safety.
Collaborate with Quality to develop in-process and end-of-line quality procedures.
Contribute to the design process to achieve Built-In Quality.
Conduct root cause analysis and document learnings.
Create and maintain manufacturing operation work instructions.
Document and communicate assembly process developments and innovations.
Coordinate with ERS Assembly Manager and HV Safety Supervisor to ensure safety and standards.
