DIMENSIONS OF ROLE
Hours: Two full days per week, with flexibility on specific days.
The key purpose of this role is to lead the development and delivery of a communications strategy to engage MCC members on plans to enhance gender diversity within the membership. The postholder will manage all aspects of communications planning, content, and delivery to ensure the campaign is strategic, evidence‑led, and aligned with the Club’s values.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities
- Communications Strategy & Delivery
- Lead the planning and implementation of the Membership Diversity communications strategy, ensuring alignment with MCC’s inclusion and membership strategies.
- Develop a clear campaign narrative, messaging framework, and communications plan that engages members with clarity, transparency, and respect.
- Oversee delivery of the communications plan across all channels, including print, digital, and events, ensuring consistency of tone and messaging.
- Monitor campaign progress, sentiment, and effectiveness, adapting plans as required to maintain momentum and mitigate reputational risk.
- Manage the strategy budget and schedule, ensuring resources are used effectively.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Act as the primary communications lead for the Membership Diversity strategy, working closely with the Membership Director, Head of Communications, and Inclusion & Membership Diversity Project Lead.
- Coordinate messaging and engagement with internal and external stakeholders, including non‑executive working groups, committees, and allied organisations.
- Build and maintain trust with members, responding to concerns constructively and promoting open dialogue.
- Support media engagement and briefings, preparing key spokespeople and materials.
- Reputation Management
- Provide communications advice to senior leaders on sensitive or reputationally significant issues related to membership diversity.
- Anticipate risks and develop proactive and reactive messaging strategies.
- Analyse member sentiment and feedback to inform communications planning and content development.
- Ensure that all communications reflect MCC’s values, tone, and commitment to inclusion.

Person Specifications – Skills, Experience and Qualification
Essential
- Strong track record in communications, campaign management or public affairs, ideally within a membership or sporting organisation.
- Proven experience managing high‑profile or sensitive communications issues.
- Excellent relationship‑building and influencing skills, including with senior stakeholders and committees.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex or nuanced messages clearly and persuasively.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking, including the ability to interpret data and adjust approach accordingly.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with non‑executive groups.
Desirable
- Experience in a sports or membership organisation.
- Familiarity with the cricket ecosystem and its diversity challenges.
- Experience working in environments requiring diplomacy, discretion, and political awareness.
