Job description

Environmental Sustainability Lead

Job Location: Stevenage / Bolton

Security Clearance: SC (can start on BPSS)

Duration: 12+ Months Minimum (possible perm option after if wanted)

Work Pattern: Hybrid working 3 days onsite

Rate: £60 - £70 per hr on Umbrella (Inside IR35)

Responsibilities
  • Lead delivery and reporting of environmental improvements across the business.
  • Shape business-focused activities around Scope 3 greenhouse emissions, targeting waste, business travel, employee commuting, homeworking, transportation and distribution.
  • Enhance biodiversity on sites and make other workplace-based environmental improvements.
  • Lead, influence, collaborate with ESG, Facilities Management, Safety Health & Environment, Sustainable Procurement, Travel, Site Management, Engineering and wider teams to deliver actions.
  • Prepare corporate reporting to comply with UK legislation, regulation and customer requirements (Climate‑related Financial Disclosure, Carbon Reduction Plan).
  • Work with Group peers in France, Italy and Germany on EU sustainability risk, performance and reporting requirements.
What We're Looking For
  • Track record of shaping and delivering practical, business‑appropriate environmental solutions that drive both sustainability and business performance.
  • Experience at or above Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP, formerly IEMA) Full Membership level (MISEP).
  • Effective stakeholder engagement at all business levels.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and self‑development.
  • Demonstrable, relevant experience in a large company or organisation.
