Enhanced Practice Sonographer

The Ultrasound Department at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital has a vacancy for a Sonographer at our improving and expanding Ultrasound Department. The successful candidate will hold a Post Grad Diploma in Medical Ultrasound. The team of sonographers cover the core elements of General Medical (Inc Paeds), Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Please note, Sonographers who only perform Obstetric, Gynae and EPC will also be considered.

10% retention and recruitment premia applies to this post and will be added to the advertised salary.

Candidates interested in evening and weekend part time employment may also be considered.

The Ultrasound department at Bedfordshire Hospitals at the L&D site consists of two departments one in imaging and the other in Women's Health Unit. We are a team of 12 friendly Sonographers comprising of two departmental managers and qualified and trainee Sonographers.

The department actively supports CPD and ultrasound involvement in regular imaging clinical governance / audit meetings is encouraged.

The Ultrasound Department consists of 6 ultrasound rooms in the General Department, 6 ultrasound rooms in the Women's Health Unit and 1 scan room in the EPU/EG Unit. Our equipment consists of Samsung RS80EVO and Hera W10 systems with comprehensive rolling equipment replacement programme.

All candidates must be able to attend a face-to-face interview and practical assessment.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role are to independently perform and report ultrasound examinations in General Medical, Obstetrics and Gynaecology (including Paediatrics and EPC).

We train student Sonographers on a regular basis and the successful candidates would play a key role in this training.
