A civil engineering consultancy in Glasgow is seeking a CAD technician to produce detailed technical drawings for various projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience and be proficient in CAD software like AutoCAD and MicroStation. This role offers opportunities for career progression into an Engineering role, alongside collaboration with engineers to ensure compliance with industry standards.
In this role as CAD technician, you will be required to work independently, creating detailed and accurate technical drawings and models for various civil engineering projects in the fields of bridges, civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering.
You will work closely with engineers and project managers to ensure that designs are effectively translated into CAD drawings, adhering to project specifications and industry standards, thereby offering the opportunity for progression into an Engineering role.
Diploma or certification in CAD Design, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Evidence of Continuous Professional Development progress towards Incorporated or Engineering Technician status.
Proficient in using CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Revit.
Good understanding of civil engineering design principles.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a CAD Technician in a civil engineering consultancy or related field.
A professional background in MicroStation is preferable.
Awareness of BIM standards and ISO 19650 workflows.
Familiarity with databases, cloud-based collaboration platforms (e.g., BIM 360/ProjectWise).
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Organised and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
