Engineering Manager

Location: Southern Office
Department: Technical / Engineering

A leading housebuilder is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join its Southern office. This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality residential developments, from land acquisition through to construction and adoption.

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you will take responsibility for all engineering aspects of developments, managing internal teams and external consultants to ensure technical designs are delivered efficiently, accurately, and on time. You will work closely with local authorities, statutory bodies, and contractors to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the engineering function within the Southern region.
  • Overseeing the design and approval of roads, drainage, levels, and other civil engineering requirements.
  • Managing external consultants and ensuring compliance with design standards.
  • Providing technical advice during land acquisition and planning stages.
  • Securing timely approvals from highways authorities, water companies, and environmental agencies.
  • Supporting site teams with engineering solutions during construction.
  • Driving cost-efficiency and value engineering initiatives.
About You

We are looking for a confident and motivated leader with a strong background in civil engineering for residential developments. You will bring both technical expertise and people management skills, ensuring successful project delivery.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline).
  • Previous experience in housebuilding or civil engineering consultancy.
  • Strong knowledge of highway and drainage design, Section 38/104/278/106 processes.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines.
