We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate registered nurse to join our friendly and skilled Endometriosis and pelvic pain team in a permanent position working 15 hours/week. The post has been developed to support the Lead Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Specialist Nurse in providing expert, patient‑centered care for individuals with endometriosis/pelvic pain.
Main duties of the job
Using your clinical experience and skill, you will work within the endometriosis and pelvic pain team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care and support the provision of specialist nursing advice to patients and families. You will communicate effectively with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team, provide education, manage symptoms, coordinate care, respond to email enquiries, arrange appointments and support MDT meetings and clinics.
You will also assist with publicising the Endometriosis Friendly Employer scheme, develop patient information leaflets, safeguard vulnerable adults, participate in preceptorship programmes, support student nurses, contribute to research and development programmes, and maintain a safe, clean clinical environment.
Job responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for patients and their families.
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team, providing education where needed.
- Respond to patient and health‑care professional email enquiries and arrange appointments with the Lead Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain CNS.
- Support MDT meetings, joint clinics, triage referrals, compile structured lists, request PACS images, type outcomes during meetings, and coordinate care across speciality teams.
- Arrange support groups four times a year, develop speaker programmes, create literature and send invites.
- Publicise the Endometriosis Friendly Employer scheme locally through social media, posters, intranet and primary care.
- Contribute to the development of patient information leaflets.
- Assist patients re‑referral to secondary care or via the Patient Initiated Follow‑Up pathway.
- Safeguard vulnerable adults and handle complaints in accordance with Trust policy.
- Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient documentation in compliance with the NMC Code.
- Assist in training and development of student nurses and health‑care assistants and act as a resource for endometriosis information.
- Contribute to research, development programmes and trials within the endometriosis service.
- Maintain a safe clean clinical environment and adhere to IPC standards.
- Assist with budgeting, ordering and use of equipment, and report staffing requirements.
- Triage patient contacts to the service in the absence of the Lead Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Nurse.
Other job requirements
- Occasional work across other areas of the Trust including Worcestershire Royal Hospital, The Alexandra Hospital, Redditch and Kidderminster Treatment Centre.
- Ability to undertake manual handling and movement tasks and wear appropriate protective equipment.
- Prepared and able to work a variable shift pattern.
- Awareness of self‑presentation to patients and relatives.
