Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a resilient, empathetic, and proactive Behaviour Mentor to support pupils within a specialist SEND provision in Ystrad Mynach.

You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, build strong relationships, and help learners manage SEMH challenges so they engage and progress across varying age groups. This full-time role runs 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday, with DBS/EWC support and ongoing CPD.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of SEMH, trauma-informed practice, SEND, ASD, or ADHD.
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, staff, and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with behavioural and emotional needs.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with young people to encourage engagement and participation.
• Support students to develop emotional regulation, resilience, and social skills.
• Implement positive behaviour management strategies and promote consistency throughout the school day.
• Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and SEN professionals to support student progress.
• Encourage students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve academically and personally.
• Act as a positive role model and promote confidence, independence, and self-esteem.
