Job Title: Electrical/Electronic Component Technician | Location: United Kingdom | Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent | Salary: Competitive (based on experience) | Benefits: 25 days holiday + bank holidays.

Job Purpose

A well-established engineering organisation is seeking a skilled technician to assess, repair, and test electrical and electronic automotive components. This role involves working to internal procedures, original equipment specifications, and defence standards where applicable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess returned electrical/electronic products and determine feasibility for repair
  • Dismantle and rebuild units to required standards
  • Perform component-level fault finding, PCB rework, and repair
  • Evaluate parts availability and commercial viability of repairs
  • Complete accurate job cards and bill of materials documentation
  • Test components and assemblies to OEM specifications
  • Report faults and non-conformances to the Workshop Supervisor
  • Maintain high-quality workmanship in line with production schedules
  • Comply with health & safety, quality, and workshop procedures
  • Support wider workshop activities and ad-hoc tasks as needed
Requirements

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in electronic fault finding to component level
  • Strong PCB rework skills including soldering and repair techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and circuit diagrams
  • Logical problem-solving approach and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with workshop best practices and quality standards
  • Competence in Microsoft Excel and Word (or willingness to learn)

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • HNC/HND, NVQ, or equivalent in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
