Responsibilities
- Install, repair and maintain electrical wiring, circuits, clean room tools and fixtures in accordance with electrical codes, regulations and safety standards.
- Read and interpret schematics and technical drawings to plan and execute electrical installations accurately.
- Ensure installations are completed on schedule and handed over to production promptly.
- Inspect electrical systems, components and equipment to identify defects, faults or malfunctions, diagnose issues using testing equipment and tools.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems, such as power outages, short circuits and voltage fluctuations, and implement corrective actions to restore functionality.
- Install and configure electrical systems and equipment—including lighting fixtures, switches, outlets, circuit breakers and panels—in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating and inspecting electrical components to prevent breakdowns.
- Test electrical systems and components for proper operation, using multimeters, voltage testers and other diagnostic tools.
- Collaborate with tradespeople, contractors and project managers to coordinate electrical work and ensure integration with other building systems.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations, including grounding, surge protection and electrical safety devices.
- Provide technical guidance and support to apprentices, and maintain accurate records of work performed.
- Respond to emergency power outages or electrical emergencies promptly to minimize downtime.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment, adhering to procedures for handling tools and hazardous materials.
- Manage isolation procedures factory wide, plan, supervise and monitor contractor work, and provide technical support for DCS and PLC systems.
- Assist in commissioning of plant with process and commissioning engineers, and produce electrical system designs for process and utilities systems.
Qualifications
- Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program; qualification to BS 7671 (18th edition).
- Proven experience performing electrical installations, repairs and maintenance in commercial or industrial settings.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical codes, regulations and safety standards.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and technical diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Attention to detail and precision in installations, connections and terminations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
- Experience with Maximo and familiarity with MCERTS equipment associated with site IPPC permits is an advantage.
