Electoral Administrator Hackney - E8 January 2026 Start On-Site Position 6 Months PAYE : £18.65 to £19.98 per hour Umbrella : £23.98 to £26.92 per hour

Are you highly organised, customer-focused, and ready to play a vital role in our local democracy? The London Borough of Hackney is looking for a proactive and dedicated individual to join our Electoral Services team as an Electoral Administrator on a 6-Month Secondment!

This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the integrity of our elections and the maintenance of the electoral register.

Key Responsibilities You Will Take On :
  • Electoral Registration : You will be instrumental in the preparation and maintenance of the electoral register, including assisting with the annual canvass.
  • Election Support : Help administer all types of elections, including Parliamentary, Local, and GLA elections. This involves everything from processing postal / proxy votes to arranging polling station accommodation and equipment.
  • Team Leadership : Assist in the recruitment, organisation, supervision, and delivery of training for election and temporary staff.
  • Customer Service : Respond confidently to complex personal and written enquiries from the public regarding registration matters, maintaining the Council's high standards for customer care, especially during contentious election periods.
  • Administrative Functions : Manage manual and computerised office systems and process payments for temporary election and canvass staff in conjunction with payroll.
What You Will Bring :
  • Skills & Abilities : Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential to meet deadlines and service standards. You must be able to deliver training to staff and work effectively both on your own initiative and as part of a supportive team.
  • Experience : Proven experience in working and communicating with the public in a front-line service is required. Experience in effective staff supervision is a key advantage.
  • IT Proficiency : Good levels of IT skills, including MS Word, Excel, Internet, and databases, will be necessary for this role.
Important Circumstances :

Please note that this role requires a willingness to work outside normal office hours, particularly during election times, and an acceptance that leave may be restricted during busy periods.
