This is an excellent opportunity to join a trusted, industry-leading multidisciplinary consultancy, renowned for lending their expertise to projects across ecological, planning and design, and arboricultural landscapes. They are seeking a driven, experienced Ecologist (Botany) to work on a variety of challenging projects alongside an established team of professionals based near Birmingham.

Responsibilities
  • Conducting a range of field surveys and managing your time and schedule accordingly
  • Undertaking Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA), adhering to relevant guidelines and procedures
  • Overseeing diverse projects, from small scale to more complex
  • Coordinating Ecological Surveys, analysing and interpreting data to inform project aspects
  • Applying knowledge of Protected Species Mitigation throughout projects
  • Engaging with your team and the wider company, maintaining high standards
  • Effectively managing time and resources across several multifaceted projects
Required skills and experience
  • ABachelor’s or Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Ecology, Environmental Management, or a related discipline
  • Experience of consulting surveys and using data to complete reports
  • Full, valid UK Driving Licence with willingness to travel UK-wide as required
  • Excellent working knowledge of ecology, surveying techniques, and relevant legislation and procedures
  • Good understanding of Protected Species Surveys and mitigation strategies
  • Hold at least one Protected Species Licence (or actively working toward attaining one)
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of botany, including Survey Identification Skills
  • Good working knowledge of Planning Policy, including the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) in relation to development projects
Desirable skills and experience
  • Demonstrable prior experience in an ecological consultancy or Local Authority setting
  • Hold several Protected Species Licences
