Job description

Are you a proven E&I Technician with experience working within a highly regulated environment? Would you like to join a close-knit maintenance team and play a pivotal role in achieving operation excellence? Do you want the opportunity to work alongside successful engineers and gain valuable experience?

The Opportunity

An opportunity has become available to Join a well-established manufacturing site in the North East, supporting the reliability and safe operation of electrical and instrumentation assets. You'll deliver planned and reactive maintenance, fault-finding and improvements across process equipment, control systems and plant utilities helping drive uptime, safety and compliance.

Your duties and responsibilities will be
  • Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive work on instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level), control valves, analyzers and low-voltage electrical systems (motors, drives, MCCs, control panels).
  • Diagnose and resolve breakdowns on instrumentation loops and PLC/SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens/Allen?Bradley) — fault-finding rather than software development.
  • Perform calibration, loop checks, verification, and maintain accurate maintenance records within the CMMS (e.g., SAP/Maximo).
  • Conduct hazardous area inspections (ATEX/DSEAR) and maintain Ex equipment to site standards and relevant regulations.
  • Read and update P&IDs, E&I drawings, loop diagrams, and produce redlines/as?built documentation after modifications.
  • Apply safe systems of work (LOTO, Permit to Work, risk assessments, method statements) and champion site HSE standards.
  • Support shutdowns/turnarounds, including planning, execution, testing and hand?back to operations.
  • Assist with minor projects/installs (specification, procurement, FAT/SAT, commissioning).
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering and external contractors; contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
  • Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (Electrical or Instrumentation)
  • Strong industrial/manufacturing background (chemical, petrochemical, pharma, food, or similar).
  • Proven hands?on experience in instrumentation maintenance and calibration; control valves and transmitters.
  • CompEx Ex01-Ex04
  • Reactive and Preventative maintenance experience
  • Ability to read P&IDs and Loop checks
It's great if you also have the following
  • Experience on a Top Tier COMAH site
  • 18th Edition Wiring regulations
