Job summary

A healthcare provider in Cramlington is seeking a Domestic Assistant to perform cleaning and assisting duties in the Operating Department. Responsibilities

  • Clean operating theatres and surrounding department using specialised equipment.
  • Act as a porter to transport patients to and from operating theatres.
  • Clean floor areas by vacuuming, mopping, and buffing.
  • Perform deep cleans in areas where infection is present.
  • Clean canopies, sanitary areas, toilets, sinks, and shower cubicles.
  • Remove rubbish, including domestic and clinical waste.
  • Damp dust the surfaces and take down and put up curtains as needed.
  • Wash walls, fitting, and windows where required.
  • Report all faults, queries, or problems to the manager.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas.
  • Carry out urgent spot cleaning and spillage as needed.

Working hours:

  • 1 shift of 1400–2200 hours over five days (twilight hours)
  • 1 flexible AM/PM rota shift
Responsibilities
  • Clean operating theatres and surrounding department using specialised equipment (scrubber, pick up, buffer) and renew disposables as required.
  • Act as a porter to transport patients to and from operating theatres when necessary.
  • Clean floor areas by vacuuming, mopping, buffing, and spray cleaning on a scheduled basis.
  • Perform deep cleans in areas where infection is present.
  • Clean canopies, sanitary areas, toilets, sinks, shower cubicles, staff changing areas, and internal glass.
  • Remove rubbish, including domestic and clinical waste, from designated areas to disposal point.
  • Damp dust the surfaces, ledges, shelves, curtain rails, and take down and put up curtains as needed.
  • Schedule cleaning of chairs.
  • Wash walls (shoulder height), fitting, and windows where required.
  • Use all equipment and materials safely and correctly.
  • Report all faults, queries or problems to the Department Manager/Domestic Supervisor.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas.
  • Carry out any urgent spot cleaning and spillage.
  • Participate in training programmes relevant to efficiency, fire drills, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
  • Perform any other duties as deemed appropriate.
