Salary: Competitive starting salary range from £78,643 up to £89,744 per annum (dependent upon experience) with the potential to progress. A discretionary range for candidates with exceptional experience can be discussed/considered

The Role

The role of Director of Financial Performance Management is a leadership role to oversee multiple finance sub-teams—Financial Performance, Planning & Control, Systems Transformation, and Management Accounting—to deliver strategic and operational financial services across the Group. Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing consolidated monthly management accounts and aligning financial strategies with long-term sustainability goals.
  • Promoting financial resilience through ESG initiatives and strategic investment opportunities.
  • Leading financial engagement in Group-wide business planning and providing insights to senior leadership.
  • Managing budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis across income, expenditure, balance sheet, and cash flow.
  • Producing costing reports and financial projections to support strategic planning.
  • Optimising management information and financial reporting for executive decision-making.
  • Developing financial reporting strategies and systems to ensure data integrity, efficiency, and audit compliance.
  • Enhancing financial systems and data integrations for improved planning and insight.
  • Supporting tax reporting and driving efficiencies through technology.
  • Contributing to the Finance Senior Leadership Team and ensuring continuous improvement in financial service delivery across UK and overseas operations.
Our Successful Candidate

You will be qualified to degree level or hold a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA). You will also have demonstrable equivalent experience and a good ongoing record of continuing professional development.

You will have strong experience in financial management, business partnering, and sustainability planning. Your background includes budgeting, forecasting, long-term financial modelling, cost allocation, and profitability reporting. You’re skilled in costing for new products and projects, and in implementing new financial processes within large, complex global organisations.

You will have the ability to lead initiatives that balance growth with long-term financial and environmental sustainability in a large, complex global organisation. Your experience includes driving change and introducing innovative approaches to financial and sustainability management.

Experience of working within the higher education sector and understanding regulatory frameworks and challenges would be advantageous.
