Overview

This is an opportunity for a senior manager to join the Digital Services team, taking a key leadership role in the effective management and delivery of the Trusts core clinical and business applications. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that all software application projects and changes to live systems are planned and implemented in a controlled and effective manner, adhering to established ITIL standards and the Digital Services Change Request Policy.

A primary focus of the role will be to provide leadership to a specialist team, motivating staff and facilitating change effectively. The successful candidate will work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including clinical staff, technical teams, and third-party suppliers, to ensure the Trust's systems deliver value and support the highest standards of patient care.

The postholder will be accountable for managing changes to the Trusts live multi-user systems, ensuring they are implemented with minimal disruption and in line with the Digital Services Change Request process. This includes acting as a key contributor to the Change Advisory Board and ensuring the impact of any changes is thoroughly assessed and evaluated before deployment. The role involves developing and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of hospital systems to advise the Trust on their best use, and translating complex national information mandates for local implementation. Responsibilities include leading and developing the application management team, establishing them as subject matter experts on the use of applications. The Senior Product Manager will also coordinate the incident management response for software failures , manage high-priority issues with suppliers , and maintain a forward schedule of change and product roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Applications Management Team, establishing them as subject matter experts on the use of applications.
• Provide leadership to a specialist team, motivating staff and facilitating change effectively.

• Maintain a forward schedule of change and product roadmaps and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
• Work with managers, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to understand business needs and ensure value delivery and patient care standards.
• Coordinate incident management and maintain comprehensive documentation, including release schedules and operational procedures for all core products.

Qualifications / Experience

• Experience leading a specialist applications management or similar team in a complex healthcare or large-scale IT environment.
• Strong understanding of ITIL standards, change management, and incident management processes.
• Ability to translate national information mandates into local implementation plans.
• Experience working with clinical staff, technical teams, and third-party suppliers, and coordinating with Change Advisory Boards.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, leadership, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of hospital or healthcare information systems is desirable.

Location and Travel

The role is based at the QMC campus with support for hybrid working, though travel between campuses and nationally will be required.
