Introduction

A well-established engineering consultancy is seeking a skilled Design Manager to support the delivery of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is a contract opportunity to join a high-performing technical team working on large-scale, multidisciplinary programs across Canada. The role offers a diverse workload and the chance to lead design efforts from concept through to construction.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced design professional with a strong technical background and proven leadership in managing complex engineering projects. You'll be confident working across multiple disciplines and comfortable navigating the challenges of large-scale infrastructure delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate design activities across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and I&C disciplines.
  • Manage design budgets, schedules, and resources to meet project milestones.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, project requirements, and quality protocols.
  • Act as a liaison between design teams and construction stakeholders during execution.
  • Oversee design reviews, change control processes, and project reporting.
  • Support project planning, scope definition, and proposal development.
  • Facilitate interdisciplinary coordination meetings and resolve technical issues.
  • Contribute to project closeout documentation and lessons learned.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience managing design on large municipal water/wastewater projects.
  • Strong technical proficiency in one or more disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, I&C).
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and project scheduling/cost estimating tools.
  • Membership with a professional engineering body (e.g. PEO) is an asset.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
