Job summary

A leading recycling machinery manufacturer in the UK seeks an experienced Design Engineer proficient in SolidWorks. You will produce quality technical and fabrication drawings, support design for large-scale machinery, and work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams. Ideal candidates have strong detailing experience and a background in mechanical design or CAD design. This role offers an opportunity to work on innovative recycling solutions and is commutable from Kettering and Northampton.

Qualifications

GBR Recruitment Ltd are proud to be working in partnership with a leading Recycling / Material Handling machinery manufacturing business based in Northamptonshire, recruiting for an experienced Design Engineer who is highly proficient in using SolidWorks design software.

As the Design Engineer you will be strong in designing sheet metal fabricated parts and large structural components for large scale machinery (cutting, bending, moulding, forming & assembling processes), plus with strong knowledge of weldments and designing high capital machinery solutions within automated MHE conveyor systems/recycling systems (compactors, balers, tippers, feeders etc.).

If you are keen to support the design of high capital machinery and you possess strong detailing of fabricated products experience, along with 2D & 3D draughting using SolidWorks 3D design software this could be the ideal design role for you.

Designer Duties

• Producing technical drawings of high quality & continuity.
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings of machinery, structures, components & layouts from 3D models (on SolidWorks).
• Produce accurate fabrication drawings (Steel Fabrications).
• Produce accurate assembly drawings.
• Produce BOM's (Bill of Materials).
• Ensuring the drawings & parts database is up to date.
• Work closely with manufacturing, engineering & sales teams.

Attributes

• A time-served experienced Design Engineer, SolidWorks Draughtsman, SolidWorks Draughtsperson, CAD Designer, AutoCAD Designer, Product Engineer, Development Engineer or similar roles with comparable duties.
• HNC, HND or Degree qualified (all considered).
• Strong in using SolidWorks (essential).
• Experience also in using AutoCAD (beneficial).
• Strong in 2D & 3D draughting.
• Strong knowledge of fabrication & sheet metal work.
• High capital machinery design support experience.
• Recycling machinery experience.
• MHE conveyor systems experience (belts, rollers, overheads, automotive, vertical, incline, gravity or similar) is useful.

This role could suit someone working as a SolidWorks Designer, Design Engineer, Draughtsman, Draughtsperson, Mechanical Design Engineer, CAD Design Engineer, SolidWorks Draughtsman, Product Design Engineer, Design for Manufacture (DfM) Engineer, 3D Modelling & Simulation Designer or similar.

The position is commutable from Northampton, Kettering, Corby, Burton Latimer, Rushden, Thrapston, Wellingborough, Raunds, Rushton, Rothwell, Desborough, Uppingham, Market Harborough, Leicester, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Stamford, Oakham; those looking to relocate to these areas would also be considered.
