Design Engineer

The Company

The company has been operating for a number of years successfully and supply sub contract sheet metal and fabrication services into various industries. Due to growth they are looking to add a Design Engineer to the small team of 3 that they have. Projects can vary from conceptual designs to amending drawings. There is scope for progression into a more senior role in the future.

The role of Design Engineer

• Create and develop drawings through the use of Solidworks.
• Pre-Production drawing reviews.
• Prepare drawing files for quotation purposes.
• Good document control systems and part numbering.
• Liaise with Manager to ensure all projects are run smoothly
• Liaise closely with customers on drawing specifications
• An understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods
• A knowledge of material properties
• Knowledge or experience of working with an MRP system.
• Have a sound knowledge of engineering design principles

Experience

• Proficient in 3D software (Solidworks / Ineventor)

3+ Years experience in Sheet Metal / Fabrication Design

HNC / HND / Degree Qualified

• Full UK Driving License

Ideally the Design Engineer will be

• Professional approach, coupled with strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills

Experienced using ERP or MRP systems

• Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work on own initiative
• Ability to work in, and adapt to a rapidly changing environment
• Ability to work cooperatively with others to complete tasks and implement process improvements
• Knowledge of Microsoft packages
