Job description
Overview

Royston Day Nursery is seeking a driven and passionate Room Leader to join the Toddlers in the 2-3s Room due to internal promotion. The setting follows individual interests and development to create a warm, home-like atmosphere where children thrive. As Room Leader, you will collaborate with other rooms to ensure smooth and positive transitions, contributing to a nurturing and welcoming environment. The nursery is located near the centre of Royston on Lumen Road, a short walk from the train station with good transport links and on-site parking for drivers. We welcome applicants who are passionate about early years education and making a difference.

Our nursery is open from 7:30am - 6:00pm and we require you to work varied shift patterns within those times.

Responsibilities
  • Provide stimulating and purposeful experiences, environments and resources for children, appropriate to their age and development stage.
  • Support the all-around needs of children, including physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.
  • Assist staff in updating EyLog and child learning journals to a high standard.
  • Lead as a role model with impartiality and consistency to promote respect and credibility in the position.
  • Support the implementation of a strong key person approach to help children form secure attachments and identify staff development needs.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to children and staff in EyMan and on file.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child, staff member, parent and visitor at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with the statutory framework for the EYFS.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Full and relevant Level 3 in Childcare qualification – Essential
  • Over 1 year’s experience working in Early Years – Essential
  • Over 6 months’ experience in a senior position – Desirable
  • Knowledge of Ofsted expectations to achieve a Good or Outstanding rating – Desirable
  • Knowledge of the EYFS statutory framework and regulatory requirements – Essential
  • Fluent in written and spoken English – Essential
Salary & Benefits

Salary: £29,536 per annum plus a Qualification Bonus. We offer a £400 Qualification Recognition bonus to Level 3 Practitioners (paid after 6 months of service, pro-rota for part-time staff). Level 3 Childcare Qualification is essential. Benefits include:
