Job summary

A children's care recruitment agency is seeking a Deputy Manager for a Children's Residential Home in Stevenage. This role involves supporting the Registered Manager, leading staff, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards. Qualifications

Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home | £33,665–£34,881 + sleep-ins

Role Responsibilities
  • Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of an EBD children’s home, ensuring consistent, high-quality care.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise staff, modelling therapeutic and trauma-informed practice.
  • Oversee rotas, staffing, budgets, and daily operational tasks, ensuring compliance with Ofsted and safeguarding standards.
  • Step up confidently in the Manager’s absence, handling audits, incidents, and key decisions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including care plans, risk assessments, and regulatory records.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, families, and external agencies to achieve strong outcomes for young people.
Role Requirements
  • Minimum 18 months’ experience as a Senior, Deputy, or Team Leader in a children’s EBD home.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (minimum essential).
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Ofsted regulations, and Children’s Homes Standards.
  • Experience managing rotas, staffing, and day-to-day home operations.
  • Confident leader with a therapeutic mindset and ability to step into management responsibilities.
