Decontamination Driver Sterile Services - near Talke - ST5 7UF.

Stoke (ST5 7UF) | Permanent | Full Time

Salary £24358.47 per annum

37.5 Hours a week - Saturday working 1 in 4

Our Hospital Sterile Services Unit (HSSU) transports sterile and disinfected surgical equipment to our local hospital network. If you have a full driving licence with a C1 entitlement that allows you to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), you could enjoy the benefits of joining the UK’s largest Healthcare Charity.

As a Driver, you will :
  • Drive our 7.5T vehicles across the Midlands to Collect / Deliver medical instrumentation. The successful applicant will benefit from a steady role of 7.5 hours per day driving within the working time regulations with limited drops to our customers. (we are not multi drop).
  • 3 hospitals per route, collect / deliver
  • Act as an ambassador for the unit being the first point of contact for customers. You will be someone who works hard to consistently exceed customer expectations and ensure that we provide an exceptional level of service to all of our customers!
  • Deliver / collect - trolleys to hospitals to enable theatre surgeries
  • Help keep equipment in good working order and report any faults
  • Keep a clean, tidy work environment and identify stock issues as they arise
  • Maintain accurate tachograph records and documentation
  • Be flexible with your working hours
  • Computer literate
  • Manage your own time according to Driver Regulations
  • Maintain our vehicles ensuring they are clean and in a roadworthy condition, both inside and out.
  • Drive safely and in accordance with current road and traffic legislation and you will notify your line manager of any defects, damage, or incidents that occur on the road
Skills / Experience needed :
  • A Full driving licence, including a C1 entitlement, which allows you to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW).
  • CPC
  • Have basic knowledge of current driver hour legislation and preferably hold a Driver digital tachograph card – training will be provided
  • Be comfortable and physically fit with manual handling which includes the movement of transport trolleys weighing upwards of 250kg - manoeuvring on and off tail lifts delivering to Hospitals following their guidelines
  • Working in house within HSSU, basic housekeeping and helping to despatch to trolley
  • Computer literate necessary
  • A basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy.
  • Evidence of previous sterile services training is an advantage but not essential – full training will be provided.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written, and basic computer literacy.
  • Attention to detail and an overarching desire to deliver a high quality service.
  • Have good Customer skills as the face of Nuffield HSSU
  • In this position, you will be reliable, have excellent communication skills, be flexible and approach your role with a positive and professional attitude.
Shift Information
  • Shift Patterns, rotated weekly, monthly rotas produced for planning – Flexibility is requested but all staff are notified of any immediate changes
  • Mornings : 04 : 00 am - 12 : 00 pm
  • Mid Shift : 10.30 am - 18.30 pm
  • Afternoon : 13.30 pm - 21 : 30 pm
  • Out of hours 7pm till 7am working paid at 30% enhancement rate
