We’re looking for a Data Engineer who is ready to build powerful data pipelines, shape enterprise models and fuel insights that protect communities and support our frontline heroes. Job purpose

As a Data Engineer at West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, you’ll be the architect behind the data that drives life-saving decisions. You’ll design and build smart, scalable data solutions including pipelines and models. You will be instrumental in our extract, load and transformation using tools such as Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Azure to support our Power BI. You will be responsible for making sure our data is clean, connected and ready to power everything from frontline operations to strategic planning. Working closely with analysts and data quality experts, you’ll turn complex data into clear insights that help protect our communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and build scalable data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Azure

  • Collaborate with analysts and data quality teams to ensure clean, trusted, high-performance data
  • Integrate data from operational systems, APIs and cloud platforms

Requirements
  • Proven experience in data engineering, including Microsoft Fabric, Microsoft Azure, SQL, DAX or scripting languages like Python
  • A strong grasp of data modelling, semantic layers and performance optimisation
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical colleagues
  • A commitment to public service
Contract details & benefits

Salary: £39,152-£41,771 per year

Term: Temporary; Full-time

Hours: 37 per week; hybrid working model (office and home for parts of the role; reliable home internet required)
