We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Architecture Assistant Manager to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the foundational data landscape of a leading professional services firm, playing a crucial role in shaping how Deloitte UK manages, governs, and leverages its data, particularly in the rapidly evolving age of AI.

You will work closely with the Head of Data Architecture and other data professionals to design, implement, and maintain robust data architecture solutions that support our strategic objectives, including the ethical and effective deployment of AI. This role offers significant exposure to cutting-edge data technologies, complex business challenges, and the chance to influence data practices across a large enterprise.

  • Assist in the development, documentation, and maintenance of data architecture frameworks, standards, and roadmaps.
  • Support the design of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for various business domains and applications.
  • Contribute to the evaluation and selection of data technologies and platforms, including data warehousing, data lakes, and streaming solutions.
  • Provide input into data dictionaries and ensure data architecture aligns with organisational standards.

Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging data technologies, and best practices in data architecture, data governance, and AI data management.

Data Governance in the Age of AI
  • Support the implementation and adherence to data governance policies, focusing on data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and data security.
  • Help define and enforce data governance standards for data used in AI/Machine Learning (ML) models, ensuring data integrity, bias mitigation, and explainability.
  • Assist in establishing processes for data classification, ownership, and access control, with a keen eye on the ethical implications of data use for AI.
  • Contribute to ensuring data architecture and governance practices comply with relevant data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) and emerging AI ethics guidelines and regulations.
  • Support the integration of diverse data types, including unstructured data, into governance frameworks to support AI systems.
Documentation & Standards
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, data flows, data dictionaries, and architectural decisions, ensuring clarity and transparency, including for AI system data provenance.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work effectively with business analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and other IT professionals to translate business requirements into robust data architecture solutions.
  • Communicate complex data concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation within the data architecture domain.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Foundational understanding of data architecture principles, data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical), and database technologies (e.g., relational databases, NoSQL, data warehouses, data lakes).
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data quality management, and metadata management concepts.
  • An understanding of AI/Machine Learning concepts and their associated data requirements and challenges.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Knowledge of data streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka).
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Understanding of ethical AI principles and responsible AI frameworks.
  • Experience in a professional services environment.
Desirable Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
