Cyber Engineer

Location: Newport, Wales

Full-time

Overview

As a Cyber Engineer you will become one of our three focused trades, developing, deploying and maintaining our battle‑winning cyber capability.

Information Services Engineer

Manage, maintain, configure and deploy a wide range of information, communications and technology systems. Ensure frontline troops and commanders can communicate on operations worldwide while protecting these systems from cyber warfare threats.

Networks Engineer

Prepare, configure, deploy and maintain operational and tactical communication systems. Engineer radios, satellite systems, computer networks and mobile communications, and support a range of software applications and ICT.

Infrastructure Engineer

Become experts in building voice and data telecommunications networks in fixed locations and supporting rapid reaction deployments across the world. Use fibre‑optic and copper cables underground or at height, qualify as an aerial rigger, and install communications network data centres while configuring advanced telecommunications equipment.

Training & Development

Initial military training covers fieldcraft, rifle handling and basic signalling. After basic training you will attend technical training that builds on Foundation 1, dives deeper into technical skills, and prepares you for your trade course. Each trade group undertakes its own specialist training, ranging from a few weeks to a year, with the majority accredited to civilian standards.

  • GCSE Grade C Maths and Grade D English or equivalent Level 2 qualifications.
  • Fitness: Mid‑Thigh Pull 50 kg; Medicine Ball Throw 2.7 m; 2 km run 11 m 30 s (Junior Entry 11 m 30 s).
