Job description

Be the driving force behind Tesco’s data‑driven Personalisation strategy. Set the vision, own the roadmap, and lead the transformation of customer data into actionable growth.

In this role, you’ll deliver impact by forging a strong partnership with Technology—co‑creating a single, integrated plan that brings together data, platforms, and analytics into seamless, scalable solutions.

You’ll act as the key liaison between business teams consuming customer data and product owners within Technology, ensuring prioritised requirements are fed into the roadmap to enable our Personalisation strategy.

  • Lead the Data Enhancement Agenda: Own the end‑to‑end strategy for audience data enrichment, segmentation, and capability building—setting the standard for customer insight and growth at Tesco.
  • Drive Cross‑Team Alignment: Coordinate all teams involved in creating and using customer and related data attributes under a single, integrated plan. Remove blockers and provide visibility to senior stakeholders.
  • Partner with Technology: Build strong relationships with Technology, Data Science, and Enterprise Analytics teams to deliver a unified, future‑proofed personalisation data ecosystem.
  • Integrate External Insights: Enhance Tesco’s data by incorporating best‑in‑class third‑party and partner data, creating a 360° view of customer journeys and behaviours.
  • Own the Customer Data Framework: Lead the full lifecycle of audience segmentation and filters—from business case development to design and adoption—embedding them across processes to enable insight and targeted activation.
  • Champion Advanced Analytics & Privacy: Promote the use of AI, advanced analytics, and data clean rooms for privacy‑safe activation at scale. Set governance and compliance standards, ensuring all innovations meet ethical and regulatory commitments. Act as the key liaison with Legal.
  • Benchmark & Innovate: Stay ahead of industry leaders by introducing cutting‑edge machine learning and cross‑channel orchestration capabilities into Tesco’s Personalisation Toolkit. Collaborate across Customer, Rewards, Commercial, and Tech teams to turn data strategies into measurable business impact.
  • Exceptional understanding of data and audience creation to drive business growth.
  • Deep expertise in data strategy and architecture, with experience in fast‑paced, multi‑channel environments.
  • Strong retail analytics knowledge, including best practices for OKR definition, uplift measurement, target setting, and metric design.
  • Proven ability to design and govern data frameworks, lead decision‑making forums, and communicate complex methodologies in a clear, simple way.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, prioritisation, and storytelling skills.
  • Relevant analytical skills such as SQL, Python, and data analysis are required.
  • Experience working with Technology teams and familiarity with data stewardship principles is desirable.
  • Track record of delivering measurable value through Personalisation, CRM, and data‑driven initiatives.
  • Experience in retail, loyalty, and customer programmes is highly desirable.
