Position: Crematorium Assistant
Location: Grenoside Crematorium, Grenoside, Sheffield
Job Type: Part‑Time, Permanent – 16 hours minimum per week
Salary: £10,483.20 per annum

We are seeking a Crematorium Assistant to join our team at Grenoside Crematorium. This versatile role will consist of providing hospitality service in our grounds Cafe, supporting with Chapel duties and occasional grounds maintenance.

As a Crematorium Assistant – Level 1, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our services run smoothly, our grounds remain beautifully maintained, and our clients are treated with care and compassion.

The Role

As a Crematorium Assistant, you will provide multi‑skilled support across the crematorium, ensuring that services are conducted professionally, our customers are served to a high standard, and the grounds are well‑presented.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support chapel services, including setting up seating, audio/visual equipment, and greeting families.
  • Greet customers warmly and take orders.
  • Handle customer concerns and provide a positive dining experience.
  • Prepare and serve hot and cold drinks (coffee, tea, juices etc.).
  • Assemble light meals, snacks, pastries, or sandwiches.
  • Process payments, issue receipts and manage change correctly.
  • Maintain the crematorium grounds and memorial areas, ensuring they are clean and well‑presented.
  • Follow hygiene regulations, health and safety, ensuring correct PPE is worn.
  • Ensure safe handling and storage of food items.
About You

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has strong interpersonal skills and communicates empathetically with families.
  • Has excellent customer service skills and experience in customer‑facing roles.
  • Is eager to learn and adaptable to a multi‑skilled role.
  • Is flexible and able to work weekends.
  • Holds a valid Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (not essential as this will be provided).
