Job description
The Role

You’ll be responsible for developing and shepherding creative ideas across Ffern’s film output, translating early concepts into clear treatments, references and finished films that feel unmistakably Ffern.

From shaping treatments and researching directors to being present on set and guiding edits through post, you’ll help ensure our films are coherent, considered and emotionally resonant across every touchpoint.

What You’ll Do
Creative Development & Treatments
  • Develop clear, beautifully considered treatment decks that articulate concept, tone, narrative and craft
  • Translate briefs into strong creative directions, from early ideas through to storyboarded films
  • Write precise, on-brand copy for supers, VO and social adaptations
Visual Research & Direction
  • Lead visual research across film, photography, art, fashion and culture
  • Pull sharp, relevant references that guide directors, HODs and post teams
  • Help define look, palette, format and capture approach in collaboration with the wider Film Studio
Director, Talent & HOD Collaboration
  • Research and build director shortlists aligned to creative ambition and budget
  • Support outreach, availability checks and early conversations alongside production
  • Create talent lists, draft casting bid letters and support negotiations with agents and partners
  • Collaborate closely with HODs (DoP, Production Design, Costume, HMU and others) to align vision and execution
On-Set Creative Stewardship
  • Be present on shoot days to support the director and producer
  • Help protect the creative through practical decision-making and clear communicationEnsure the original intent is upheld while responding calmly to real-world constraints
Post-Production & Delivery
  • Review edits, grades, sound and title design with a meticulous eye
  • Give clear, constructive and actionable feedback across post-production
  • Maintain consistency of tone, craft and brand expression across all film outputs
Cross-Channel Craft & Adaptation
  • Adapt hero films into trailers, teasers and social assets with platform-appropriate storytelling
  • Ensure creative integrity is maintained across all formats and durations
Documentation & Handover
  • Maintain clear creative documentation including treatments, references and shot lists
  • Ensure smooth handovers so teams can move quickly and confidently
Qualifications
  • 5+ years’ experience in film or advertising (agency, production company or brand studio)
  • A strong portfolio or reel showing treatments, storytelling and visual sensibility
  • Confidence writing short-form copy, VO and supers
  • A solid understanding of production craft and post-production workflows
  • Comfort collaborating with directors, producers and HODs
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Notion and Keynote (or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with Adobe CC (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop) as a plus
  • Willingness to travel for UK and international shoots
  • A full UK driving licence is a bonus
