Cover Supervisor - Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)

📍 Oldham | 🕒 Full-Time | 📅 Start: Monday 19th January or ASAP

Are you calm under pressure, resilient, and passionate about making a real difference to young people who need it most? We are seeking a dedicated and confident Cover Supervisor to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Oldham on a full-time basis.

This is a rewarding and challenging role supporting pupils with severe behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties, many of whom require strong structure, consistency, and positive role modelling to re‑engage with education.

The Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during teacher absence, delivering pre‑planned work, and maintaining a safe and structured learning environment. You will play a key role in supporting pupils' behaviour, de‑escalating challenging situations, and building positive relationships that help students succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise pupils and deliver pre‑set lessons
  • Manage and respond confidently to challenging behaviour
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Follow safeguarding, behaviour, and PRU policies at all times
Requirements
  • Experience working with challenging behaviour, PRUs, SEND, SEMH, youth work, or similar settings (essential)
  • Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high‑pressure situations
  • Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
