Overview

Contract Project Engineer, Automotive Electrification & Battery Testing. Commutable from Coventry, Hinckley, Leicester, Birmingham, Rugby. 18-month contract role with an hourly rate guide of £27.00, start date in October 2025. Battery testing experience is advantageous but full training can be provided (structured 8-week training plan in place). The role suits someone with experience as a Project Engineer, Test Engineer, Development Engineer, Project Manager, or a similar engineering role. This position sits at the cutting edge of battery safety and abuse testing and acts as the key link between the customer and the engineering test team to ensure projects run safely, smoothly, and to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, offering guidance and technical advice on all aspects of battery abuse testing (training can be provided on battery testing).
• Approve all test setups before execution, ensuring compliance with agreed requirements.
• Oversee test execution, ensuring data is captured accurately, archived securely, and reviewed for quality and integrity.
• Manage workload planning, ensuring equipment, tools, and resources are available when needed.
• Own and maintain all supporting documentation, including Work Instructions, Risk Assessments, and Safe Systems of Work.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Strong technical background in engineering or testing (battery or automotive experience desirable).
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Clear communicator who can liaise confidently with both customers and technical teams.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on data quality, safety, and compliance.
• Degree qualified in automotive engineering or a similar mechanical or electrical engineering discipline.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.

• Location: Commutable from Coventry, Leicester, Birmingham, Tamworth, Rugby, Hinckley, Warwick, Northampton, Leamington Spa and surrounding areas.
• Contract length: 18 months
• Rate: £27.00 per hour (guideline)
