We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and motivated Consultant Radiologist with a sub‑specialty interest in urological imaging to join our existing team.

Post Overview

This post will enable us to deliver a sustainable and high quality service, support the growing needs of faster diagnosis standards and improve turnaround times, while delivering comprehensive diagnostic urology and general radiology services to West London. The post will be based at The Hammersmith Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and community diagnostic centres in west London depending on need.

The successful applicant should have completed training in diagnostic radiology and be within 6 months of their CCT. They should have a specialist interest in urology imaging.

The Consultant interview panel (AAC) is scheduled for 29/1/25 at Hammersmith Hospital, W12 0HS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide urology expertise with specific training in all aspects of urology imaging.
  • Take part in the RAPID prostate same‑day diagnostic imaging pathway and provide urology imaging support for faster diagnostic service scans across the week.
  • Help reduce urology imaging turnaround times and support well‑established services such as the same‑day haematuria clinic.
  • Lead specialist urological MDTs (prostate, renal and urothelial).
  • Contribute to general work in the department, including oncology and acute cross‑section imaging.
  • Assist with major trauma reporting where required.
  • Participate in a large consultant team’s 7‑day weekend‑flexible duty rota.
  • Make a strong contribution to teaching and training within the department, with research experience welcomed.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Completed formal training in urology imaging.
  • Experience in reporting US, CT and MR imaging of the renal tract and prostate.
  • Experience in a tertiary urology MDT setting and reporting andrological imaging is desirable.
  • General oncology and acute cross‑section imaging experience highly valued; major trauma reporting desirable.
  • Hold a CCT in Clinical Radiology (or equivalent) and be on the GMC Speciality Register, or be within 6 months of being granted a CCT.
  • Part‑time candidates with appropriate accreditation are encouraged to apply.
