Consultant Psychologist in Cancer and Palliative Care

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for an experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to take a lead on the provision of Specialist Psychological services in Cancer and Palliative Care settings across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin.

The post will suit a Clinical Psychologist with experience of working within physical health care; ideally with clinical experience in cancer and/or palliative care services and experience of offering leadership in a physical health care setting.

The post-holder will be responsible for the delivery of highly specialised psychological services and will support the development of psychologically and trauma-informed practice across acute, community and hospice settings.

The post-holder will join colleagues in a growing Physical Health Psychology offer within MPFT\'s Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin Care Group, and benefit from well-established relationships with partner organisations.

Main duties of the job

• To deliver and lead on Specialist Psychological Services in Cancer and Palliative Care across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
• Provision of professional advice and consultation regarding psychological practice for system partners providing Cancer and Palliative Care services across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
• Contribution to the strategic/locality leadership in the provision of effective, efficient Physical Health Psychology services, working closely and collaboratively with the Psychological Practice Professional Lead for the Shropshire Telford and Wrekin Care Group.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Post graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology as accredited by the BPS, with HCPC registration
• Specialist training and/or experience in physical health psychology
• Formal post-doctoral training in one or more highly specialist areas of psychological practice relevant to physical health psychology

Experience

• Substantial number of years of experience of working as a qualified clinical or counselling psychologist
• Experience in the application of more than one treatment model in clinical health psychology
• Substantial experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, presenting with the full range of severity and complexity
• Formal post-qualification experience/training in relevant management or healthcare leadership skills.
