A mental health care provider in Long Eaton seeks a Consultant Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive psychiatric care at Cygnet Hospital Derby. The candidate will oversee inpatient treatments, ensure quality standards are met, and work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate care. This role supports patients with complex needs, contributing to their recovery through effective management and auditing of services in a secure environment.
We are seeking an experienced full-time or part-time (any 4 days per week) Consultant Psychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Hospital Derby and provide senior medical cover on Alvaston Ward, our 16 bed specialist low secure service for women.
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required and will also have responsibility for auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.
In this role, your expertise will be the driving force for life-changing treatment fully supported by a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologist and occupational therapist.
Cygnet Hospital Derby is our 50 bed service providing low secure and mental health rehabilitation care based on the Recovery Model.
This role will provide psychiatric care to patients on Alvaston Ward, our 16 bed specialist low secure service for women with a primary diagnosis of emotionally unstable personality disorder or mental illness.
The primary pre‑censor to an admission to Alvaston Ward is that the individual is ready to engage in a multi‑disciplinary therapeutic programme. Service users may have a history of involvement in the criminal justice system or may present with significantly challenging behaviour, severe self‑neglect and vulnerability.
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and have overall medical responsibility of patient treatment plans, whilst liaising closely with the Multi‑Disciplinary Team (Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers etc.).
The post holder will be expected to act as a positive role model, maintaining and demonstrating a positive attitude towards patients, their families, visitors and other staff.
