Overview

Working as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, Head Medical is seeking a Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery who specialises in Lower Limb Orthopaedics (Hip, knee, and ankle) to join a leading private hospital in the UK.

Based in the town of Shepton Mallet, Somerset as part of this professional, friendly and compassionate team you will do everything you can to ensure the patient’s treatment is of the highest standard. This organisation focuses on ensuring that our patients receive high-quality treatment quickly, in clean and comfortable surroundings.

The town Shepton Mallet a few miles away from the Mendip Hills an area of outstanding natural beauty is perfect for those looking for a slice of tranquility. Nearby towns of Wells and Glastonbury have high-ranking state and independent schools and the towns of Wells and Castle Cary have direct train links to London.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of elective orthopaedic procedures, including:
    • Primary hip and knee replacements
    • Knee arthroscopy and carpal tunnel release
    • Joint injections and aspirations
    • Additional minor procedures based on your expertise
  • Deliver exceptional care across the patient pathway – preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care
  • Support and supervise junior clinical staff
  • Participate in audit, clinical governance, service improvement, and teaching
  • Engage in continuing professional development and actively contribute to departmental meetings and strategic planning

You will have the freedom to focus on delivering safe, evidence-based surgery without the distractions of acute admissions or trauma rotas, while also benefiting from a supportive and forward-thinking team.

Whilst a typical full-time working week will comprise 40 hours (8 PAs), working patterns will be flexible over primarily a Monday to Saturday rota.
