Consultant in Anaesthesia WSI in Intensive Care Medicine

We are seeking an enthusiastic, innovative, and progressive individual Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia to join our "Outstanding" CQC-rated Critical Care team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a highly recognised and forward-thinking specialty within the Trust. The appointee will primarily work at the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) but may provide services at other sites as needed.

Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or be eligible within six months of the interview date, with extensive training and experience in both critical care and anaesthesia. We welcome candidates with additional clinical or diagnostic skills that will enhance our team, such as accreditation in ultrasound.The job plan will incorporate a 50:50 split of daytime clinical activity between critical care and anaesthesia. The successful applicant will contribute to a dedicated consultant roster that covers both day and night shifts, with an on-call rota aiming for 1 in 16 soon.This job is a substantive post.

Main duties of the job

Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration & license to practice
  • Eligible to work in the UK
  • FRCA
  • FFICM
  • Additional postgraduate qualifications, especially MRCP
  • Advanced Training in intensive care medicine
  • Experience in critical care ultrasound
Clinical Experience
  • CCT in Intensive Care Medicine
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the management of emergencies in Critical care and Anaesthesia
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for the care of patients
  • Demonstrates a clear, logical approach to clinical problems and an appropriate level of clinical knowledge
  • Able to prioritise clinical need
  • Other experience relevant to needs of the department e.g., complex airway management

Management, Leadership and Administrative Experience:
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively
