A regional healthcare trust in Bournemouth seeks a haemato-oncology consultant to join their team. The role involves participating in a 1:13 on-call rota, contributing to an accredited transplant centre, and engaging in clinical research initiatives. Candidates will support service expansion and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient care.
With a multi-million-pound investment, UHD is a recently formed 1000 bed Trust comprising Poole Hospital, Royal Bournemouth & Christchurch Hospitals in partnership with Bournemouth University. The 30-bed haematology in-patient unit, including the established JACIE accredited autologous transplant unit, will be housed at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital from April 2024, which also has day case chemotherapy and outpatient facilities. Poole Hospital is being developed as the major planned/elective care hospital and will have day case chemotherapy and outpatient facilities. UHD runs dedicated CLL, lymphoma, WM, myeloma, MDS & MPN clinics and has representation on NCRI MDS, MPN, Myeloma & CLL subgroups, UK Myeloma society, UK CLL forum and UK MDS forum executive committees; is actively involved in writing BSH national guidelines. The Trust offers access to an extensive clinical trial portfolio and novel treatment delivery approaches with a strong home care & community chemotherapy team. The Trust intends to expand services and welcomes candidates interested in developing its bispecific antibody programme. It is recognised that some services may move sites this year or next, either temporarily or long term; recruiting managers can answer specific questions at interview.
We are proud of the service we offer our patients, including access to an extensive clinical trial portfolio and a strong home care & community chemotherapy team. The Trust emphasises team values and patient-centered care under the #TeamUHD identity. Some services may move sites during the year as part of merger and New Hospital Programme transformations; interviewers will address site-specific questions.
