Job summary

Job overview

This is an exciting time to join us as a Consultant Psychiatrist. This opportunity is for a full-time post within our male low secure service based at the Lowry Unit, Prestwich Hospital.

This post combines elements of Rehabilitation, General Adult and Forensic Psychiatry, and applicants from all these backgrounds are welcomed.

The role will allow a successful candidate to contribute to the development of our new model of care and to shape the future of secure services for men from Greater Manchester.

Main duties of the job

You will be supported by a full and expanding complement of multidisciplinary colleagues, with the current position being that you will work with a medical secretary, junior doctor(s), clinical psychologist, social worker, occupational therapist, and our nursing colleagues. To support our service user’s physical health, there is additionally a visiting GP, dentist and well-established physical health team.

Alongside inpatient management, additional clinical activities include on‑call work, access assessments to the service, and a range of additional activities dependent on negotiation with consultant colleagues and our new model of care.

The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.
