A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join Northumberland CYPS covering the Learning Disability and PBS pathway as well as our Neurodevelopmental Pathway. The postholder will join a great team of doctors and other professionals passionate about the care of children and young people in Northumberland. They will work as part of an effective multidisciplinary team and support young people with intellectual disability from around the area both in the clinic and school setting.

Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT at the point of interview. Candidates should be suitably qualified, including eligibility for Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.
It is envisaged that the post holder will work 10 programmed activities over five days. Following appointment there will be a meeting at no later than three months with the clinical manager to review and revise the job plan and objectives of the post holder. The overall split of the programmed activities is 7.5 activities to be devoted to direct clinical care and 2-2.5 to supporting professional activities (as per the Royal College of Psychiatrists recommendation). The timetable is indicative only. A formal job plan will be agreed between the post holder and associate medical director or clinical manager three months after commencing the post and at least annually thereafter.

The anticipated workload for the aforementioned post would be around 20-30 patients, with some new referrals each month. The consultant will be expected to have the role of Lead Professional for a small number of these patients (around 10) but the majority would be held within the wider community team.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
