Job description

At Warburtons, family is at the heart of our business. Five generations' worth of expertise that goes into making our bakery products allows us to continue a tradition of baking inherited over the past 150 years.

Warburtons is the largest bakery brand in the UK, but that doesn't allow us to rest on our laurels. We are pioneers of the industry and ambitious market leaders, always seeking to challenge ourselves and convention. It is part of our philosophy to provide honest good sense on issues of health and well-being, helping the whole family to enjoy our products as part of a healthy, balanced diet, through a range of products to suit all meal occasions, lifestyles and tastes.

Construction Graduate – Build the future of Britain’s best-loved bakery brand

Rise to the challenge. Build something big. It’s how we roll.

Location: National, with rotations across central engineering and bakery sites

Contract: Permanent, 2-year rotational graduate programme

We may be famous for baking Britain’s favourite bread… but behind every loaf sits serious engineering ambition. We’re investing in our bakeries, modernising our estate, and expanding our capability—and we need future construction talent to help us do it right.

As a Construction Graduate, you’ll join Central Engineering and rotate across key functions that bring our capital projects to life. You won’t just observe—you’ll deliver meaningful work that contributes to multi-million-pound investments, high-performing bakeries, and the future of our infrastructure.

This is your chance to gain a unique, end-to-end understanding of construction within a fast-moving manufacturing business not traditionally known for it—but absolutely committed to doing it brilliantly.

Key Accountabilities And Measures
  • Deliver projects On Time In Full (OTIF)—meeting customer requirements, budget and timeline expectations
  • Champion Health & Safety—become a visible safety advocate and ensure full regulatory compliance
  • Enable commercial excellence—support negotiations, help manage contract sums, ensure correct legal precedents, and process all purchases through SAP
  • Keep projects on track—own Gantt charts, site reports, and milestone tracking
  • Build strong relationships—work closely with bakery teams, Central Engineering, Regional Directors, contractors, suppliers, and local authorities
  • Collaborate and influence—communicate clearly and confidently as you grow your network across Warburtons
  • Drive continuous improvement—use data and insight to challenge how we work and identify better ways of doing things
  • Invest in your development—complete professional qualifications, join leadership programmes, and build the foundations for a long and rewarding career with us
Essential Ingredients

You’ll thrive here if you’re curious, driven, and ready to learn fast in a real operational environment.

We’re Looking For
  • A degree in a relevant construction or engineering discipline
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Great communication and a collaborative mindset
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
  • Confidence to work independently and as part of a team
  • A willingness to rotate nationally and work in a manufacturing environment
  • A readiness to take initiative, challenge assumptions, and bring fresh thinking
  • An appetite for personal and professional development
Why join the Warburtons Construction Graduate Programme?
  • Unique experience—construction exposure inside one of the UK’s biggest food manufacturers
  • Meaningful projects—work on real investments that strengthen the future of our bakeries
  • Structured development—professional qualifications, leadership training and tailored support
  • A supportive environment—dedicated pastoral care, a national graduate community and experienced leaders committed to your growth
  • Clear progression—a launchpad into specialist or project-focused roles within Central Engineering or wider operational teams

Warburtons is a sixth-generation family business built on pride, care and ambition. If you want to grow with a company investing heavily in its future—and you’re excited by the challenge of shaping construction in a place known more for crumpets than concrete—

Ready to build something brilliant?
