Job description

Complex Needs SEN Teacher needed for a mainstream Secondary school based in Greenwich.

Remedy are looking for a qualified/experienced Unqualified SEN Class Teacher to work full-time in a mainstream Secondary school.

The ideal candidate would have experience of working with pupils aged 7-19 with autism and moderate, severe and profound learning difficulties/disabilities including those with visual and hearing impairments.

The setting is a specialist school based in Greenwich.

The role:
  • Plan and deliver highly individualised, engaging, and meaningful lessons that consider cognitive, communication, and sensory profiles.
  • Lead and manage a class team of support staff to ensure a consistent and person-centred approach across the day.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists and other professionals to embed therapeutic strategies into daily teaching.
  • Use augmentative and alternative communication systems (AAC) including high-tech (e.g., communication devices/apps) and low-tech systems (e.g., PECS, Sign-Along, visual supports).
  • Build strong relationships with families and contribute positively to home-school communication.
  • Play an active role in annual reviews and contribute meaningfully to Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) processes.

  • Is a qualified teacher with proven SEN experience, ideally in a special school setting.
  • Has extensive experience with AAC systems - both high-tech and low-tech.
  • Has experience teaching students with complex and severe learning needs, sensory processing difficulties and managing behaviours positively using PBS principles.
  • Is skilled in multidisciplinary collaboration and confident embedding therapeutic and regulation strategies into teaching.
  • Can lead, inspire, and support a class team to deliver high-quality, consistent care and education.
  • Is confident in working with parents/carers and supporting EHCP processes.
