Job summary

HC-One Ltd. is seeking a Kitchen Assistant for 20 or 30 hours per week, with shifts from 8am to 6:30pm.

The role focuses on delivering high-quality care through food, ensuring nutritious meals and proper kitchen hygiene in dementia, nursing, residential, and specialist care homes. You will assist with meal prep, serve meals with warmth, monitor temperatures, and support stock rotation while upholding kindness and respect for residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen and ability to follow recipes and dietary requirements.
• Ability to record information accurately and maintain hygiene.
• Willingness to work towards NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
• Support stock rotation and ensure ingredients are properly stored.
• Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless, even after busy lunch rush.
