Job summary

HC-One Limited is looking for a part-time Kitchen Assistant to join our dementia, nursing, residential and specialist care homes. You will help prepare and serve nutritious meals with kindness, supporting residents’ health and dignity.

Responsibilities include assisting with meal prep, serving meals warmly, maintaining kitchen hygiene, monitoring temperatures, storing ingredients properly, and supporting new staff. NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation is preferred or you can work towards it.

Qualifications

• Candidate should have some kitchen experience and a willingness to work towards an NVQ2.
• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation preferred or willingness to achieve it.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.)
• Support stock rotation and ensure ingredients are properly stored
• Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment
• Washing up and ensuring the kitchen remains spotless — even after a busy lunch rush
