Job summary

HC-One is hiring a Kitchen Assistant to work 38 hours per week in our care-home kitchens across the UK. You will assist with meal preparation under the Chef, serve meals with warmth and respect, and maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.

We welcome candidates with an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or those willing to work towards it. Strong organisational skills and a patient, respectful approach to Residents and colleagues are essential.

Qualifications

• Kitchen experience preferred with a real passion for helping others.
• Willingness to work towards NVQ2 if not already held.
• Good organisation and attention to detail required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely manner.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene, including equipment.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures.
• Support stock rotation and proper ingredient storage.
• Show new team members how to use kitchen equipment safely.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless after busy periods.
