Job summary

Chelmsford Star Co-op is seeking a caring funeral care assistant to join our dedicated team in Leicester. You will be the families’ first contact at the scene, providing compassionate support and ensuring dignified care and presentation of the deceased.

Working a long-day pattern from 8:00am to 8:06pm, 4 days on/4 days off, you will collaborate with colleagues to deliver the highest professional service and support on-call duties as required.

Qualifications

• Compassion and empathy for families during bereavement.
• Ability to lift and transfer the deceased with dignity and care.
• Full UK manual driving licence; willingness to cover on-call shifts.
• Supportive, team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

• Care for the deceased, including preparation and presentation with dignity.
• Be the families’ first point of contact at the scene of bereavement.
• Assist with washing and dressing the deceased in a respectful manner.
• Work a long-day pattern: 8.00am to 8.06pm, 4 on/4 off.
• Support DBS checks as part of the recruitment process.
