Job summary

Chelmsford Star Co-op is seeking a Funeral Advisor to support families at one of life’s hardest moments, guiding them through funeral arrangements with compassion, clarity and care.

You’ll manage day‑to‑day operations of our funeral homes, travel to cover other sites, and build trusted relationships with local communities, hospitals and clergy.

A full UK driving licence is essential; you’ll uphold high standards, ensure respectful treatment of the deceased, and comply with DBS requirements.

Qualifications

• Compassionate nature and ability to provide emotional support to grieving families.
• Active listening and clear communication to accurately capture family wishes.
• Strong administration and data handling skills with attention to detail.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to nearby sites.
• DBS check is required for the role.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of services to offer personalised funeral options.
• Arrange funerals with attention to cost and transparency.
• Communicate arrangements between family and Funeral Director clearly.
• Handle administration tasks with accuracy, sensitivity and care.
• Keep funeral home clean, tidy and secure the premises (alarms, locking/unlocking).
• Promote Funeral Services within the local community as a co-operative member.
• Build relationships with hospitals, nursing homes, local clergy and doctors.
• Comply with statutory and internal policies and procedures.
